01 · Pricing1 plan

One plan. Both of you.

Stead is free to use, properly — not a trial wearing a free badge. When Stead Plus launches it will be one price covering up to two people, because the second person costs us nothing to look after.

Stead Plus is priced and billed in Australian dollars, and will be available in Australia first. Everything on this page is what Plus is launching at — you can’t buy it yet, and we’ll tell you the moment you can.

Two examples. Yours is made from your own details.

Choose your hair, skin tone, glasses and the rest, and Stead draws a character that looks like you — then it levels up with you as you go. No photo needed.

Making your own character comes with a subscription — it isn’t part of the free trial.

The date you’ll get there.

Every goal gets a finish date, worked out from your own progress so far.

A goal in the Stead app, Japan, next autumn: $1,900 saved of a $6,000 target, projected for August 2027, with a nudge to save $10 more a week and get there a month sooner
When you’ll get there — and how to get there sooner.

Lite shows how you’re pacing. Plus puts a date on it, and shows how much sooner a little more each week would get you there.

A forecast is worked out from what you’ve saved so far. It’s a guide, not a promise — change the pace and the date moves with you.

Why pay to save money?

Fair question. You’re here to spend less, not more. Lite is the whole tracker, free, for as long as you want it. Plus is for looking ahead: the date you’ll reach each goal, every month you’ve ever logged, and a character that looks like you.

We won’t tell you Plus makes you save more. We haven’t measured that, so we don’t claim it. If knowing the date would change how you plan, Plus is worth it. If not, stay on Lite — we’d rather that than you paying for something you don’t open.

03 · Lite and Plus, side by side12 rows

Where the line is.

Tracking your money, linking with a partner and exporting everything you’ve entered are free, on every plan, permanently. Plus buys the forward-looking half — goal forecasting and unlimited history — and the part people tend to want most: a character that looks like you, levelling up as you go, rather than one picked from our cast.

04 · Before you commit7 questions

The fine print, in plain English.

What does Stead Plus cost, and for how long?

Stead Plus is launching at A$79 a year — that works out at A$6.58 a month, and saves 27% against paying monthly at A$8.99. One plan covers up to two people, so there is no second seat to buy. Prices are in Australian dollars.

Does it renew, and at what price?

Yes. An annual plan renews once a year at the standard price of the day, which is A$79 at launch. Founding Members pay A$39 for the first year and then stay at A$59 a year for as long as the subscription runs without a break — the founding rate is held, not stepped back up to standard. Before any renewal we will email you 30 days ahead and again 7 days ahead, stating the exact date and the exact amount.

How do I cancel?

Online, from your settings, in no more steps than it took to sign up. No email, no chat, no retention gauntlet. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep Plus until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Can I get a refund?

Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep Stead Plus until the end of the period you have already paid for — we do not refund part-way through a period you have started. Two exceptions will apply once Plus goes on sale: if we ever stop offering Stead, or hand it to another operating entity, you get at least 30 days’ notice and we refund the unused part of anything you have prepaid. Our Terms are being updated to set that out before anything is for sale. None of this limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law, which we cannot exclude.

Does my partner need their own account?

They need their own login, but not their own subscription. One Stead Plus plan covers both of you, and linking with a partner is free on every plan, including the free one. You each keep your own account so you can each choose what you share.

Is there a trial, and do you need my card?

Thirty days of Stead Plus, and no card. The trial includes everything in Plus except making your own character — that comes with a subscription. When the trial ends it goes back to the free tier on its own. There’s no card on file, so a silent charge isn’t possible. You keep everything you tracked.

What happens to my data if I stay on the free tier?

Nothing is deleted. The free tier shows the current month plus the two before it, and everything older stays in your account waiting for you — and your full export is free and unrestricted on every plan, so you can always take the lot with you.
