01 · Our story
We built the app we wanted to open.
We’re Daniel and Sophie, and we built Stead for ourselves first. Saving for a first home in this market felt out of reach — and every budgeting app we tried made it worse: nagging, joyless, or built as if we were each banking alone.
So we made the one we actually wanted to open. We still use it every day, saving for the same deposit.
02 · Why it feels different
Calm is the feature.
Most money apps motivate with anxiety — red numbers, guilt, the sense you’ve failed. We think that’s backwards. Stead turns small daily decisions into visible progress, makes the sensible thing feel rewarding, and treats a slip as a rest, not a failure. The point isn’t tracking money for its own sake — it’s making the future you’re working towards feel like it’s actually getting closer.
